Web 2.0

This week I am going to tell you about web 2.0 and why it is so important in our society. Web 2.0 compared to what web 1.0 was is the addition of interactivity on a website. Good examples for this new interactivity are social media sites, where people can build their own part of the website and set it up (to a certain extent) the way they like to. While in web 1.0 a person could access a website, they had no option to interact with it, for example in the form of a comment or even a game. In a way, web 1.0 was a one way street for the privileged people, with the means to build an internet site, to voice their opinion or to promote something to the rest of the internet users.
The thing that makes web 2.0 so exciting and important, in my opinion, is that it allows everyone that has access to the internet to share their points of view and to be part of the conversation. Like I explained in my first post about the benefits of having a blog, this means that people can connect to others online and put their ideas and aspirations out in the open for others to find. Many websites nowadays also have a comment function or at least an address that people can contact. This means that if anything is presented on the site, it can be corrected if it happens to be wrong or people can voice their opinions about it if it is controversial. Additionally, social media sites add great value to our lives. They are a way to connect to old and new friends and keep those connections strong, even if, for example, the people live on opposite sides of the world.
So now you know what web 2.0 is all about. Do you think that there will be a web 3.0? If so, what would be changed?
