This weeks post is about Assistive Technology. If you don't know what assistive technology is, let me explain. Assistive Technology is any kind of technology that assists the disabled community in their lives. For example, the voice assistant on a smartphone or a laptop is a piece of Assistive Technology, just like a hearing aid. These days, there are many types of Assistive Technology out there and it is only getting more and more. For almost any kind of disability or impairment is some kind of Assistive Technology available. For children as well as senior adults.
Even the app store nowadays has a lot to offer. With new apps being developed, existing hardware can often be changed to accommodate the disabled and fit their needs. This then eliminated the need for special, high-priced hardware targeted towards people with that disability. This can then also means that the disabled are more likely to fit in, which is what most of them want, and will not stick out of the crowd because of the use of special devices.
So overall, Assistive Technology is a fascinating development that can help a variety of different people and I am curious to see how it will be updated in the future.
